TCEQ Approves Fines Totaling $386,735
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality today approved penalties totaling $196,888 against 22 regulated entities for violations of state environmental regulations. Agreed orders were issued for the following enforcement categories: five air quality, one industrial and hazardous waste, three municipal waste discharge, and three public water system.
Default orders were issued for two air quality, two onsite sewage facility installers, three petroleum storage tank, one public water system, and one wastewater operator certification.
Penalties were also assessed in one petroleum storage tank case following a hearing at the State Office of Administrative Hearings.
In addition, on January 30 and February 8, the executive director approved 62 agreed orders, each $7,500 or less, totaling $189,847.
The commissioners also voted to send the Lower Colorado River Authority's emergency order to a SOAH hearing, to look at any disputed issues in the executive director's proposed order. The Commission will consider the Administrative Law Judge's Proposal for Decision at its regularly scheduled agenda, February 26.
